I began my teaching career in 1989 and have taught at Washburn since 2008. I teach three Honors English courses, one 12th grade English, and one Advanced Placement English (Literature and Composition). I have training in International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement, Great Books, and Paideia (seminar discussions).
Among the stops in my teaching journey: New York City, Fargo, St. Paul, and Northfield. I began my career teaching fourth graders in the South Bronx and most recently taught education and writing courses at St. Olaf College. Consistent with the Bank Street College philosophy, I strive to be a progressive educator. My patron saint is John Dewey.
