I have been at  Washburn since 1999, with a sabbatical year in Berlin, Germany. 

I graduated from Luther College with degrees in Visual Arts and Education.  I also attended Michigan State University and did graduate work at L'Universite Aix-Marseille in France. I have managed an art gallery, been partner in an art curatorial business and am a practicing artist (painter).

I believe that all students are artists!  I work to create a classroomwhere students are free to express themselves creatively, learn about various media and global artistic traditions and have fun!

Hello!  My name is Krista Schuurman and I will be student teaching with Nancy Hinz this fall at Washburn.  I graduated in 2004 from St. Olaf College with a degree in Visual Art and ceramics focus.  I am currently studying at St. Catherine University to complete my degree in Education.  I look forward to working with all students to help them discover new ways for self expression and creative thought.
