In 1994 I began teaching in the suburban District 196 and after one year moved to Minneapolis Public Schools. I taught at Northeast Middle School and Ramsey International Fine Arts Center before coming to Washburn High Scool in 2008.
I have college degrees from Southeastern College, Boise State Unviversity and St. Thomas Unviversity. In 2000 I earned National Board Certification for Teaching which has recognized only 13% of teachers nationwide.
I come from a family of educators with my Grannie teaching in a one room school house in Iowa. My mother-in-law was an Iowa state Teacher of the Year and presided as a school borad member. My wife, who is also National Board Certified, teaches at Hale Elementary School in Minneapolis and I have enjoyed reconnecting with those same students in my classoom.
