School-Based Clinics are a partnership between the Minneapolis Department of Health and Family Support, and Minneapolis Public Schools.

The adolescent years can be difficult for teens, considering the many pressures they face and the normal developmental struggle to become more independent.  The mission of School-Based Clinics is to promote the health and well-being of adolescents:
  • School-based clinics are a great place for teens to learn how to take more responsibililty for their own physical and mental health needs.  Students are encouraged to use health and lifestyle education provided by clinic staff to make well-informed choices.
  • Washburn's Clinic services are confidential and respectful.  No information is shared with school staff or other clinics without a signed release.
  • Washburn's Clinic is conveniently located in Room 006.  It is staffed by friendly professionals who have experience working with youth.  Staff members include doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers, mental health counselors, nutritionists, volunteer lawyers, and clerks.
  • Dedicated medical assistants help students in making their own appointments, filling out forms, and gathering insurance information.
  • Washburn's School-Based Clinic provides services to students who are either with or without insurance.  Clinic services can supplement services provided by a student's primary care clinic.  If your insurance does not cover the cost of a service, you will not be billed.  Washburn's Clinic does not charge a co-pay.  If you are eligible for insurance, but do not yet have any, Washburn's Clinic staff can assist you and your family in obtaining health insurance.
  • Students of all nationalities, languages, abilities, religions, and sexual preferences are welcome.
  • The clinic is wheelchair accessible.
  • Interpreters are available as needed.
