The Cold War

The Cold War generally refers to the period from 1945-1991. It refers to the tensions between Communism & Free Market Democracy, specifically the USSR and the United States, respectively. Although the two superpowers did not directly engage in armed conflict, they often came close and fought indirectly through other countries.

This topic will be covered throughout Quarter 1. Although most of the focus will be on the two superpowers, the role of China and of the non-aligned countries will also be considered. Check back for assignments, lecture notes, and other materials as they are assigned.
