Washburn High School Counseling Department Mission Statement
We will collaborate with students, families, community members and school personnel to assure that all students realize and integrate their academic, career and personal/social potential in order to develop and achieve an individualized vision of success.

·  Collaborate - School counselors collaborate with others to help schools achieve their mission and students reach their goals.

·  All Students - School counselors work with all students by delivering classroom lessons and being a part of school-wide programs.

·  Individuals - School counselors help individuals with academic, attendance, behavior and personal/social issues in groups and individual settings.

·  Academic Domain - School counselors help students with topics such as academic organization, study skills and post-secondary preparation.

·  Career Domain - School counselors help students identify possible career paths through interest inventories, personality type assessments and learning style tests.

·  Personal/Social Domain - School counselors help students with issues such as bully prevention, anger management, problem solving and cooperation. They also refer students with mental health issues to outside agencies and can be the school contact to assist these students so they reach their academic and personal/social goals.
