"Treat them greatly and they will show themselves great."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Hi! I am a new resource teacher at Washburn, and I have been in the Minneapolis School district for nine years. I am presently teaching English Strategies to 11th and 12th graders, and do collaborative teaching in English 11 classes, with Mr. Jensen and Ms. Xie. As a resource teacher I have had experience across all content areas to some degree, and strong training and experience in reading, writing, and math strategies. The University of St. Thomas is where I achieved my master's in Special Education, Specific Learning Disabilities, and my undergrad work was done at Minnesota State University (then Mankato State University), in writing and art.
My draw to the teaching profession starts with the belief that we all have multiple intelligences, and all have brilliance within, so it's a blast to work with kids and see that come about. I really enjoy the challenge of bringing out the best in each student, or rather, creating the conditions so that all students arrive at their "best" in their own way.
I can be reached by e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org, or phone 612-668-8506. My shared office is 312A, and I am available before and after school on most days. I look forward to a great year at Washburn! Go Millers!
