This Friday, Washburn will have a guest speaker for students who will talk about understanding and managing anxiety. Dr. Ann Layne is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders in children, adolescents, and young adults. Dr. Layne’s primary focus is the treatment of anxiety disorders including obsessive-compulsive disorder, separation anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social phobia, panic disorder, and specific phobias. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn more about a topic that is affecting many people. She will give two presentations in the auditorium so that all students have the opportunity to hear her speak.  Each presentation will be 40 minutes in length. Students will either attend her first or second session, depending on their 2nd period class. All students report to their 2nd period class for attendance. If you have any concerns abuot your student attending this presenation because of the topic, please reach out to their counselor to set up an alternative activity for them.
