Become an Academic Support Intern!

As an Academic Support Intern (ASI), you are making a commitment to:

  • Support two IB/Honors classrooms twice a week, and also assist teacher with after-school tutoring as needed.
  • Assist students one-on-one, in small groups, or large groups in achieving their learning targets.
  • Communicate frequently with your teacher regarding student progress and areas of concern.
  • Be familiar with students’ textbooks, materials, and assignments.
  • Determine from classroom participation and from conferring with teachers the concepts that need to be taught or emphasized.
  • Facilitate brainstorming, study, and review sessions.
  • Set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for all students to follow.
  • Act in a professional manner: dress business casual, show up on time, and maintain a professional attitude in the classroom.
  • Attend all relevant trainings.

Hours:

6 hours, 20/41 weeks (one semester or year-long commitment).

While we do accept volunteers for all subject areas, candidates with a strong math or science background are highly encouraged.
