Washburn High School, Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States of America

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB) was developed in 1968 to establish a rigorous college-prep curriculum and assessment process that transcends geographical boundaries and develops in students a global perspective and a respect for learning.

In the IB Diploma Programme, students are assessed through multiple formats for the broad variety of course work they take during the 11th and 12th grades. Additionally, the development of a 4,000-word extended essay and the reflection on 150 hours of creativity, action and service are evaluated.

The IB Diploma Programme affords students numerous benefits including the development of critical thinking skills, connections between the classroom and the community, and college credit for their course work recognized by post-secondary institutions worldwide.
