Ms. Mulvaney, Literacy Specialist and English Teacher
F. Scott Fitzgerald

Literature is where I go to explore the highest and lowest places in human society

and in the human spirit,

where I hope to find not absolute truth but the truth of the tale,

of the imagination and of the heart."

- Salman Rushdie

                                                       Hello

William Shakespeare
and welcome to my teacher page!  My name is Maureen Mulvaney.  The pictures here are three of my favorite authors: F. Scott Fitzgerald, Barbara Kingsolver and William Shakespeare.  It's pretty easy to figure out which one is which.  I love books of all kinds, and feel that teaching Literacy is the perfect job!  This is my second year at Washburn High School and I feel very lucky to be here. Previously, I have taught at high schools in St. Louis Park and north Minneapolis.  As the school literacy specialist, I will be spending a lot of time in and out of different classrooms, helping teachers practice literacy strategies and differentiation.  My schedule is varied and flexible. Because of this, I don't
Barbara Kingsolver
answer my office phone much, nor am I always there to pick up messages. However,   I am happy to communicate with parents and students via email, and always glad to set up times for tutoring.  Students, if you are out sick for an extended period, please contact me so we can keep you on track.
