St. Olaf TRIO Educational Talent Search (ETS)

St. Olaf TRIO Educational Talent Search (ETS) is a federally-funded TRIO program offering college preparatory services to over 190 students annually in grades 9-12 at Washburn High School. St. Olaf TRIO ETS has been at Washburn since 1991. 

Funded by US Department of Education & St. Olaf College since 1991.

 Services and activities include:

•       Career Exploration

•       Financial Aid Information for College

•       College Exploration

•       Mentor Program

•       Tutoring

•       College Visits

Academic Advisors Rachel Enwright ( and Kayla Hammond ( are at Washburn on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You can find them in the College and Career Center (Room 107).

Additional TRIO ETS Activities:

The ETS Mentoring Program works with 1-3 freshman non honors English classes to help prepare and expose students to college. Each student is paired up with a current St. Olaf College student who serves as their mentor for the entire year. Students and mentors exchange weekly letters discussing college topics such as financial aid, studying abroad, choosing a major, etc. Students and mentors also meet face-to-face three times a year for the mentoring program field trips.

ETS offers after school tutoring on Tuesdays from 3:15 to 4:30 pm in the Media Center. St. Olaf ETS Academic Advisors and St. Olaf College student tutors, and Washburn Staff members are available to help students with homework, preparing for the MCA tests, preparing for the ACT Assessment, and college application and essay writing.
