JV Tourament Day 2

The first game was full of back and forth action including many big saves by Washburn goalie Chris Ransom.  However the game ended in a 0-0 tie.  The tie allowed Richfield to advance to the finals where they beat South for the 2nd time in 2 days...

In a physical game that determined who would advance to the 3rd place game, the Tommies scored midway through the 1st half to take a 1-0 lead.  Just before halftime Mohamed Dirie slotted a pass to Elhadj Keita who scored his team leading 9th goal of the season to tie the game.  The Millers continued to put high pressure on the Tommies and converted on a free kick with about 10 minutes left.  James Silva sent a free kick into the box and Josh Polland headed it in for a very pretty game winning goal.

Playing a rematch in the 3rd place game, the Millers once again got out to a 1-0 lead as Ibrahim Yusuf was fouled in the box.  James Silva converted the penalty kick, and the Millers led at halftime.  However just like the last time they palyed the Millers could not hold the lead, the Teddies converted a PK of their own and the game went into a shoot-out.  The Millers dominated the shoot-out as Mohamed Omar, Ramon Torres, and Said Farah buried their PKs.  Miller goalie Chris Ransom shut down the Teddies stopping 3 of 4 shots and ended up getting mobbed after preserving the victory.
