Millers Volleyball: Moving Forward, A Culture of Excellence

Since the mid-2000s, the Washburn volleyball program has been making steady advancements in both the number of participants and the level of its players' abilities.

  • In 2010, the program added a "C Squad" (freshmen-only) team, bringing the total number of teams to four.
  • More and more Washburn players are playing volleyball nearly year-round (winter club volleyball, summer camps and beach volleyball leagues), increasing the overall skill level among the teams and making a stronger, more competitive program.
  • The coaching staff strives to:
    • Provide leadership and excellent instruction
    • Maintain a safe environment for our players to practice and compete in
    • Offer a fair team selection process and, if there's a need, promote players from one team to the next
    • Give support to those players that have collegiate playing aspirations by providing general information to them and their families

Under Direction of 2019 Head Coach, Jasmine Draper, what to look for:

To improve the lives of our athletes by teaching them hard work, healthy competition, and commitment to excellence; to install knowledge, morals, and good characteristics in each individual so they can be not only be the best player, but the best version of themselves.
