Washburn and Blake lead city in National Merit Scholars

National Merit scholars

Five Washburn students - Maggie Faust, Max Henschel, Austin Hunt, Etta Leugers and Kina Paguyo - have been named semifinalists for National Merit Scholarships, which are given annually to top high school students nationwide. The five scored among the top two percent of students nationwide on the PSAT exam and are among 288 semifinalists named in Minnesota.

Nine other Washburn students received National Merit Commendations: Olivia Bordon, Eli Feldman, Adele Fraser, Eleanor Friel, Sean McAneney, Anna Omdal, Andrew Peichel, Theo Prince, and Reid Wooldridge. Commended Students are in the top 3% nationally based on the PSAT test.

Washburn had more National Merit semifinalists this year than any school in the city besides Blake.
