My name is Christian Hoogheem. I grew up in River Falls, Wisconsin, and graduated from high school in 1990. I went on to St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota, where I played hockey for four years and graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor's degree in chemistry. Immediately after college I found a job working as a forensics lab technician. My primary responsibility was testing all sorts of specimens for drugs. During this time I enrolled in the Master's program of education at St. Thomas. I graduated from St. Thomas with a Master's degree in educational curriculum in 2001.

This is my twenty sixth year teaching, twenty first year in Minneapolis and eighth year at Washburn. I have taught Physics, Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, AP Chemistry, IB SL and HL Chemistry, Physical Science, and Environmental Science. This year I will be teaching Chemisty and AP Physics.

Interesting trivia about me (maybe): I am an Eagle scout. I was selected to participate in the U.S. Junior Olympic program for hockey. I coached girls' hockey at Roseville for two years, girl's hockey at Burnsville for one year and boy's hockey at Edison for one year, the Minneapolis West hockey team for two years and also at Sibley High School. I am married and have two beautiful daughters. Both of my daughters graduated from Washburn and are now in college.  I have lived in this neighborhood for 24 years, so you might see me walking the parkway or lakes.
