In The Heights Musical Feb. 19 - Mar. 1


In the Heights is a musical with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes. The story is set over the course of three days, involving an ensemble cast of characters in the largely Dominican-American neighborhood of Washington Heights in New York City. Development of In The Heights was supported by the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center during a residency at the Music Theatre Conference of 2005.  Initially developed by Black House Productions.

"In the Heights" WHS's Spotlight Production opens on Thursday, Feb. 19th Performances are Thursday-Saturday, February 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28  @ 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, February 22 and March 1, @ 2:00 p.m.  Buy tickets ahead of time at or at the door.

This beautiful story told in Spanglish through Latin Fusion, Jazz, HipHop, Salsa, and pop genres, takes place in Washington Heights, New York, where a close-knit community of Latin immigrants find it difficult to stay together due to the gentrification of their neighborhood. On opening night, Thursday, February 19, the music department is holding a Fat Lorenzo's Pasta Dinner to raise scholarship money for our spring trips to St. Louis and New York City. Pasta Dinner tickets are $10.  Checks can be made out to:Washburn H.S.  We will also have tickets for children ages 10 and under available at the door for $5. THURSDAY'S OPENING NIGHT SHOW IS PAY WHAT YOU CAN NIGHT.  You can't find a cheaper deal any where in town!
