AP and IB Exam Registration is open until Nov. 7

For the 2022 AP and IB exams, Washburn students will be registering online. Online Exam registration ends on Sun, Nov 7, 2021 at 11:59 PM. There is a $5 late fee if you register after Nov. 1. More info

Picture Retake Day is Thurs, Oct. 28

Picture Retake Day is on Thurs, Oct. 28, 2021. You can order photo packages at and type in code EVT8H9HBQ. Students who missed picture day and students who need to get a retake should have their photo taken on Oct. 28.

Kids Deserve a Shot
Vaccines for 12-17 year olds

Minnesotans 12-17 years old who start and complete their two-dose COVID-19 vaccine series between October 18 and November 30 are eligible to receive a $200 Visa gift card. Parents/Guardians can register their 12-17 year old once they have completed their two-dose series. ALSO: All 12-17 year olds who have completed their COVID-19 vaccine series at any time in 2021 can enter to win a $100,000 Minnesota College Scholarship! The State of Minnesota will hold five drawings of $100,000 for five students to attend any public or private non-profit educational institution in the state of Minnesota. Register online at:

Washburn Cares Winter Greens and Poinsettia Sale 2021

Washburn Cares is partnering witiih Bachman's to offer beautiful poinsettias and winter greens including wreaths and finished planters. All proceeds are used to help meet the needs of our housing and food insecure students. 

Order now through Wednesday, November 10th at the Washburn Plant Sale Website.

SAFE Pickup/Delivery will happen Wednesday, November 24th during Thanksgiving week outside at 5600 15th Ave S.

CPEO Courses Starting October 25th

Washburn’s CPEO courses begin on October 25th!

CPEO, Connecting Parents to Educational Opportunities, is a Parent Academy Program designed to bring schools, parents, and community together as equal partners in the education of their children. The program will be offered remotely in English, Spanish, and Somali.

Washburn's course will be offered Monday nights from 6-8:00 PM on October 25th, November 1st, November 8th, Novermber 15th, and November 22nd. Please use the links below to join the courses remotely.

Washburn Demands Justice - A Statement from WHS Student Council

The Washburn Student Council has published a statement about racial justice. Please click to see the full statement.

"We not only demand that community leaders address social injustices through systemic changes in the areas of police reform, voting rights & access, and economic disparities in our city, but we call on our whole school community do the following:

  • Commit to practicing anti-racism work at school and in our own personal lives;

  • Acknowledge and address the systematic problems in our own school system that create divisions and separations between white students and students of color;

  • Listen to and uplift the voices of students of color."

Tech Tips for Distance Learning and Beyond

WHS Class of 2020 students Nathaniel Mersy and Ben Anderson created a YouTube Channel called WHS Tech Tricks with tech trick tutorials for students to help Millers navigate distance learning. This channel is an IB Diploma CAS Project, and just one example of the fabulous work our Millers do as part of the IB Diploma Program.

Also - there is a district Technology Support website for students & families that has software & platform training in four languages. Check them out!

The Homecoming pepfest and football game were on Oct. 8, and the Homecoming dance was Oct. 9 outside on the mall.
