Washburn Visual Arts

Washburn's VISUAL ART DEPARTMENT helps students develop their visual art skills in a supportive, rigorous environment. With a dedicated teaching staff and the support of the artistic community, students pursue areas of interest including: drawing, painting, ceramics and IB Art with a general course called Studio Art as a prerequisite

Students will graduate with a broad range of experience and the skills necessary to succeed in post-secondary studies.

Join Art Club!


Art Club is open to all students and meets every other Tuesday in Room 211 from 3:00 to 4:30pm. The following activities are planned for the school year. If interested in joining see Ms. Hinz in Room 211 for a permission slip.

  • Field trips (Museum of Russian Art, Walker Art Museum, Mpls Institute of Art) 
  • Screening of art films
  • Studio time with one-on-one teacher help
  • Experimenting with art materials
  • Artist Studio Visits
