Miller Math Team Wins Meet; City Title within Reach

Blue W

The Washburn Math Team won the Math Meet at Patrick Henry on Mon, Jan. 25 and is tied for first in the conference with defending champion Southwest and South. Congratulations to Math Team Coach Jay Selvaag and the Miller Mathletes! The last city tournament of the season is Feb. 8 at South High to determine which team goes to state.

Our Washburn Mathletes combined for an astounding 71 points yesterday afternoon (we usually score somewhere around 40-50), taking first place ahead of Southwest by three points! Through four of five meets, Southwest is at the top of the leaderboard with us and South tied for second just one point behind them. This sets up a winner-take-all final meet at South in two weeks. Whichever team wins will win the Minneapolis division and earn a spot in the state tournament! The final results came in after all of our students left so they don't even know about this fantastic win yet. If you see any of our Mathletes today, congratulate them on a great win last night!
