Quads Qlub

FIRST MEETING FOR 2022-23: Thursday, 6 October in Room 120D (Grul's) right after school

Click HERE to sign up and get more information.

Quads Qlub is a casual non-competitive group for learning how to fly drones, taking pictures & video with drones, and programming autonomous drone flight. No experience required. DJI/Ryze Tello drones will be provided, and naturally you're welcome to bring your own drone too.

Usually alternate between Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. We also record video at some football and soccer games.

Usually on the southside of the Washburn mall, or at a local park

If you'd like to fly our larger drones (Mavic Air 1, Mavic 2 Pro, Matrice 100), you'll need to do two things:
-get your FAA TRUST certificate: click here to start TRUST (free and takes 20-30 min)
-register yourself with the FAA as a Recreational Flyer: click here to start FAADroneZone (super easy and fast - costing only $5 for 3 years)

Suggested phone apps (all free and available for Android and iOS):

  • Tello (to fly the Tello using your phone as a controller)
  • Tello EDU (for programming autonomous flight for the Tello)
  • DroneBlocks (programming autonomous flight for the Tello and other DJI drones)
  • DJI Go (Matrice 100)
  • DJI Go 4 (Mavic Air 1 and Mavic 2 Pro)
  • Aloft, formerly KittyHawk (to get quick & easy authorization to fly in controlled airspace, which much of South Minneapolis is)
  • Avia Weather (aviation weather reports)
