Information about Mr. Rist

My Role in English 10 - Periods 1, 2, and 6:

I am the academic language teacher in Ms. Pederson-Linn's English 10 classes. Please refer to Ms. Pederson-Linn's teacher page for any and all due dates, assignments, and the syllbus for her classes. You may also refer to her respective Google Classroom pages for this information as well. 

My Role in ESL 2A/B & 3A/B periods 3 & 5: I teach levels 2 and 3 for these ESL classes. ESL 2A/2B & 3A/3B is your English class.  You will receive ELA credit for period 3 and elective credit for period 5.

Short Bio: I have been an ESL teacher at Washburn for seven years.  I have served as a collaborative teacher in Human Geography, U.S. History, as well as tenth and twelfth grade English Language Arts classrooms.  I also provide tutoring services in the following subjects:  English Language Arts, all Social Studies courses, and Spanish.

Class Expectations and Helpful Tips: Check the weekly schedule to know when I will be teaching interactive classes.  Also, look at the Google Classroom page for each class to know which assignments are due and when.  If you have any questions or need tutoring, please contact me via the the email address listed above so that we may set up a time for a video call.

Use the link above to sign on to your RAZ-KIDS account.  You should be reading at least 20 minutes per day.  

Instructions for RAZ-KIDS:

1. Select a book to read.

2. Listen to the book once.

3. Read the book after you listen to it.

4. Take the short quiz at the end of the reading.

5. Email Mr. Rist to look at your progress and move you up levels.

Most of you already have this app loaded on your phone. Use this app to practice no more than 20 minutes per day.
