Sign up for Summer School by May 31

Summer School

Summer School sign up has begun. If you need to make up credit in a core class please see your counselor to get signed up for summer school. Summer School will be at Washburn or Edison. Deadline to sign up is May 31.
Session 1: June 17 - July 3             Session 2: July 8 - July 25
Monday - Thursday                         8:30am - 1:35pm

If a student has failed at least 1 quarter of a required class (English, Social Studies, Math, Science, Fitness, Health or Art) they are encouraged to attend Summer School and work productively to recover their credits. Summer School will be held at either Washburn High School or Edison High School. If your student is an English Language Learner or receiving parenting support they should attend at Longfellow School. Summer School meets for 2 sessions, Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am – 1:35 pm. Students have the option of attending 1 or both sessions. Students can recover 3 quarters worth of credit (.75) during each session. Breakfast and lunch are provided. Students will be issued a summer bus card.
Classes are taught by teachers from around the district. Classes may be project based, digital learning, traditional classes or a blend of all.
Sign-up in the counseling office by May 31.
 

Below is information regarding Online Learning’s summer school for health and fitness.  Please reach out to Katy Hemmah (MPS On-line Counselor) with any questions.

Online registration will be open on the MPS Online website from May 13th – June 5:  https://online.mpls.k12.mn.us/

The courses run from June 12th-June 28th. Students will be required to fill out an on-line form and then print off a separate registration sheet that they will need to sign and have their parent sign before bringing it to their current school counselor to sign and submit. All procedural information will be posted on the website once the window opens.
Late registrations will NOT be accepted!
Students are limited to 1 quarter (.25 credits) of 1 course. Students need 2 quarters of both Health and Fitness to graduate. The following classes will be offered:
Health (Quarter 1)
Health  (Quarter 2)
Fitness (Quarter 1)
Fitness (Quarter 2)
These classes are taken for a grade (not just "credit" and not for "pass/fail) and must be completed by June 28th. MPS Online courses cannot be used for credit-make-up.
